Note from Dad, February 22, 2010:  "Hi, Shella, Squite is now named Spike!  I want you to know he has been an absolutely wonderful puppy.  I love him so much.  Spike was completely house trained as of two weeks ago.  He is so well socialized and all my family, friends, and coworkers adore him.  I office out of an old Victorian home, and I have taken him with me a couple of times.  Everyone wants him as the office mascot!  Spike went to the vet a couple of days after we got him; he is in excellent health with the exception of one testicle which has not descended.  The vet said it is no big deal at this time, and it might still come down.  Spike has a follow up March the 3rd, and we will know more then.  I will definitely send you a picture ASAP.  He is so handsome and growing fast.  Thank you so much for everything.  Please keep in touch.  [I'll write you, Manny; but your vet is right:  sometimes a testicle won't descend until the puppy is anywhere from four to six months old!  Now, if it is 'not' down by that time, then it likely will not come down; and the only problem really is that we would prefer that the vet not have to 'search' for it when he goes to neuter.  I'm betting it WILL be down in the next few weeks!  SO happy Spike is being a good boy!!  I'll never forget want a sweet, sweet boy he was . . . I suspect he always will be.  :)  THANK YOU for surrounding him with so many who love him!]
First Pictures of Winston in His New Home, 2 months old:
Note from Mom, February 6, 2010:  "I cannot even begin to tell you how much joy our little man has brought to us.  He was pretty comfortable all the way home.  He dozed for most of the short trip.  When we got him home, we saw that he didn't care for the way the tile felt on his paws.  He would only stay on the carpeted areas of the family room.  But it was so funny when he finally did step on the floor.  He went sliding.  He tries to run and he slides everywhere.  He had us in tears because we were all laughing.  I think he knew he was putting on a show. --- We went out again and bought him so many toys.  He loves those bones you recommended.  He loves to eat and loves to give us kisses after he's been drinking water.  He is constantly being loved on, kissed on, and hugged;  we love him so much.  My children (19 and 22) absolutely love him too.  Even my son, who I thought disliked dogs, loves playing with him and has already volunteered to babysit him if I need him to.  But, I'm not going anywhere.  I had an important meeting yesterday and came home right after.  Chuck canceled his meeting because we don't want to leave his side.  He wants so much to play with my little chihuahua, but she's still being mean to him.  But it's comical to see this huge baby being scolded by her and he still tries jumping on her.  She kind of started playing with him last night, but not too much. --- I hope it's okay with you that we renamed him.  His new name is Clyde.  Although I don't call him that, I just all him my 'handsome little man."  --- I cannot wait to show him off!!!  I'll wait till he's completely vaccinated though.  We don't want to take any chances.  We're taking him in to the vet this week.  We are taking lots of pictures; we want to start our baby album.  I have already bought him little hats and goggles.  I also have a wagon with a canopy so that I can pull him when I go on short walks.  He will be incredibly spoiled.  --- I cannot begin to tell you how truly grateful we are to you for allowing us to adopt one of your precious babies.  I know it must be so hard for you to give them up.  But I know you do it so that we can also experience the love and joy that an English bulldog can give.  And we in return promise to love him always.  Thank you so much!!  With much love, Magda."  [THANK YOU, Magda!!!  I truly think I would love to come and live with Clyde:  that boy has it better than many, many people! :)  :)  And your promising to love him always is ALL I could ever ask!  He is a lucky little bulldog, in so many ways.  THANK YOU!]
Note from Mom, January 20, 2010:  "He is such an awesome bulldog.  He acts like he's been with us his whole life.  He has already grown.  He loves my old cat.  All the dogs take such good care of him.  Going to vet tomorow.  Thank you. "  [THANK YOU, TRUDY!!  And I'm glad he loves your old cat; they could become the very best of friends!"]

Note from Mom, February 22, 2010:  ". . . he has become the prince of the family.  Believe it or not, all of the females love him.  I have two pugs and a lab-boxer mix, all females.  Cliff has two heeler females that are outside dogs at the ranch, both females.  All get along and love him.  I couldn't believe how the heelers did with him.  They don't get along with my dogs at all.  They fell in love with him.  He is only with them when he goes out to potty.  They wouldn't stay close to the ranch house, but now they want to see him.  Of course my dogs are used to mom bringing everything home.  So it's like, "Oh, another one." :)  He has settled in with a vet here and has gotten all he needs so far.  He goes back and forth with Cliff; he has become quite the travel partner.  Cliff (and his sons) have given him the name Riley.  He responded like it was meant for him.  So he has been 'that' after the first week.  I'll try to send more soon.  He is sleeping with my oldest pug, who is ten.  Take care, Trudy"  [Prince Riley:  guardian of all the girls. :)  I would say he is never lonely and is a happy, happy boy!  SO proud for him, Trudy.  THANK YOU so much!]
"Don't worry, Riley, I'll protect you.  It's just mom with her camera again . . . she'll go away if we are really, really still."  :)
We are keeping this beautiful little girl!  Rosebud is such a special little girl; she is going to stay right here with us.  She loves to play and can hold her own with everyone here!  Her mother, Shuggie, is so very glad to have her daughter come out of that nursery room and be with her.  Rosie, we are so very glad to have you right here with us, sweet girl!!  :)
Precious little Buddha, at 2 months
Buddha, with his 'real' half-sister, Yubi!!  Yubi is not quite sure yet, but she 'think's having the little squirt around is going to be okay.   Just as long as he remembers who is BOSS!  :)
Bath time for a dirty little bulldog.
Brother was so sick . . . Ivan is right there to comfort him.  Ivan!??  Are you asleep on the job??
Note from Mom, February 2010:  " . . . Ivan is doing wonderful!  We decided to keep the name; it just fit him too well to change it!  He is a very loved and very spoiled little boy!  I have some pictures that I will send you in another e-mail.  His fvorite place to sleep is on my head!  It is too funny. :)   . . . Thank you so much for letting Ivan be a part of our family!  He is just the best little thing!   [He's a happy little boy, April!  THANK YOU so much!!!  And that little spot on his tummy; that's uniquely Ivan!!  He didn't need a microchip for and ID; he had that spot!  :)  ]
Notes from Mom, January through February, 2010:  " . . .so far, so good.  We all slept pretty well last night.  Cedar got up a couple of times to go out, and he did his business like a big boy.  Duke is not completely sure of him yet and doesn't particularly want to share, but when Cedar decided to steal some of Duke's food, Duke let him. :)  He is not so giving with his toys and felt he must have Cedar's.  Cedar is standing up to him remarkably.  I am giving both of them time apart from each other, mainlyto show Duke how much more fun it is with him aruond.  We had four neighbors over last night to meet him, and they all love him, of course.  Cedar slept in the crate most of the night, but Duke scratched at the cage early this morning, wanting him to come out, and we brought him into bed with us for a few hours.  Duke took his place on the floor beside the bed and didn't seem to mind at all that Cedar was in the bed.  We simply adore the little guy!  Thank you again for raising such a wonderful little boy! "

[Where do 'I' start, Katrina?  Where?  I suppose:  THANK YOU for taking the time to share with all of us the trials of the first few weeks of bringing a new puppy home.  Because of your willingness to take the time to tell us of this adjustment time, we feel we, too, are a part of this process, and perhaps even a little part of your family.   Though I 'should' be partial to Winston, I find myself on Duke's side!  :)  He's truly a gem of a big brother; I adore him.  :)  What comes through so clearly is the love your two four-legged sons receive from you and David, and 'that' is the key element to having a happy home, whether it be filled with those who can talk, or those who just try to wag their tails. :)  I THANK YOU more than words can say.]
Note from Mom, February 14, 2010:  " . . . Vladie says hello!  He had his second vet visit on Saturday . . . he is up to 14+ pounds now . . . doing well in his house training.  He gets a little doggie treat every time he goes outside.  He looks up at me as soon as he finishes his business for his reward.   And he loves his kennel.  I bought one of those lamb type puppy blankets and put it inside the kennel; he has just loved it.  He's lying in there snoozing and hving puppy dreams as I type this.  He's lying in his favorite positon:  on his back, belly up, paws folded at his sides.  He is so cute . . . "  [ I can't find her note, but later Mom said that Vladie was a hit at the feed store . . . :)  Have a feeling that Vladie makes himself 'to home' just about everywhere he goes!!  :)  THANK YOU, Patricia, for giving him a home where he can sleep upside down with not a fear in the world!]

Does he think he's a bird dog, dad???  :)  Poor, Poor Mallard.
Better rest up, Mallard; he'll be awake again, soon!
Note from Mom, March 11, 2010:  "Our little Clyde is turning into a very handsome, playful, and obedient young man.  He is just about the cutest 'little fat man" I have ever seen.  He's getting big.  We went to the kite festival this past Sunday, and we took our little man with us.  I made sure to pack his canopy-covered wagon, his diaper bag (YES! HE HAS ONE!!), his toys, water bottle w/attached bowl, his food and treats.  Austin has so many people right now because of SXSW, St. Patrick's day, the rodeo, and the kite festival.  There was no place close to park near Zilker where the kite festival was going on.  So we put our baby in the wagon and started our long walk.  It was just the cutest thing.  I guess people expected to see a child in the wagon and would start laughing when they saw that it was our four-legged baby in there.  He was such a ham! --- He never got out of the wagon other than to pee.  He had so many people coming up to him and taking his picture.  We had other people with other bulldogs coming up to us and telling us that they wished they also had a wagon for their dogs.  It got a little warm on Sunday, and I was so happy that we didn' t make him walk.  We had several people coming to us and telling us to 'quit abusing our poor dog."  Of course, they were just kidding.  Then they'd say they have never seen such a spoiled dog.  One lady came up to us and said that all bulldogs needed to be treated the way we treat our little man.  I was so proud because I had the most precious little fat man there.  --- I am such a proud mom and Chuck is a very proud dad.  He took Clyde to work with him the other day and his employees were calling Clyde 'the new boss.'  He is so handsome and regal.  He knows how much we love him and I know he loves us very much.  He is absolutely perfect.  He can do no wrong (well, yes he can), but one look with those big beautiful eyes and all wrong is forgiven.  :)  Oh, and I forgot to mention that on Sunday, I forgot to pack water and snacks for me and Chuck.  We were thirsty but I wouldn't really let Chuck drink out of the water bottle because I wanted it all for Clyde.  We laughed at how the entire back of the Hummer was loaded with his stuff and only a tiny blanket for us.  --- I cannot begin to tell you how much loved he is.  I don't even know how we went this long without a bulldog in our lives.  THANK YOU again so much for trusting us with one of your beautiful babies.  We will ALWAYS love him and take good care of him.  He will always be my baby, no matter how big he gets.  Much love to you!  Magda"  [Magda, I have absolutely nothing to add here . . . you have expressed every single sentiment I have ever had, and you and Chuck have fulfilled every wish I have ever had for parents for my little bulldogs. . . . Well, I do have one thing:  BLESS YOU AND BLESS CLYDE for the parents that you are . . . and for loving that precious, precious Clyde (little Buck).  Oh, what a fortunate young bulldog he is . . .]

[We would all love to see him in his wagon!  If Chuck could send us a picture of that, we would be sooo very grateful!!  :)]
Guess Who!!!  It's BUDDHA BOY, at almost 4 months!!  Love you, little guy!!  You are BEEUTIFULL in those Texas bluebonnets . . .   :)
April 2010: Note from Mom:  ". . . we do enjoy Breeze so much.  She is a great puppy and she is full of energy.  Yes, you can post pictures of Breeze; I really would like to keep in touch with her brothers, too.  Thank you for the wonderful puppy that she is."  Marcela  [She's just beautiful, Marcela!!  I will never forget that sweet, sweet natured little girl.  I'm sure she will always be just that way.  Why wouldn't she be:  she has all the love and care she could possibly need.  THANK YOU for that!]
Here is Miss Breeze, one of the sweetest little girls we ever produced.

Baby Clyde
Baby Clyde is growing . . . .
Note from Mom, April 5, 2010:  "Look at how much Clyde has grown.  Doesn't he look gorgeous!!  I love hm so so much.  My daughter takes videos and pictures of him all the time.  He is such a handsome boy. He is a head turner, too.  Peole are always taking pictures of him!!  He absolutely loves to wrestle.  My daughter, Alyssa, will wrestle with him and he loves to run and jump on her when she gets down to his level.  He has the most distinct growl.  It is so funny.  He is such a ham!!!!  I love love love my boy!!!  Much love to you, Magda" [He IS beautiful, Magda!  And I LOVE his goggles; he's a dashing young man!! :)  What a life he has . . .  THANK YOU!!]
Notes from Mom, April 2010:  "Thought you would enjoy these photos.  Winston is maturing and is such a beautiful boy!  Had to include one of the boys as well.  This is one of their favorites spots:  the couch!  We try to change out the blanket every other day.  The one they are sitting on is a TCU purple blanket--it shows off their pretty coloring.  They have started to nap beside each other.  SO cute.  [They are BEAUTIFUL, Katrina!!  BOTH of them, and their colors make a striking contrast.]
"There is a photo that looks like he is sitting in a corner.  the shot is not that good, but I had to laugh--it looks like he is being punished.  Actually, he is watching David shower!  [THIS is as close as he is getting, though, isn't it!  :)]
"In the photo with the green bowl, that is NOT his food bowl. :)  I can't even remember how he got hold of it, but he had so much fun with it, we let him keep it."

[My caption for the one below:  "THIS IS MY BOWL, AND DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING TO GET IT!!]
Winston, at 4.5 months
Little Boy, I think you look like your MOTHER!  :)
Note from Mom, April 7, 2010:  "That sweet Winston sleeps with his head on David's pillow much of the night.  He is such a little lover.  When he wakes up first, he will sit quietly staring down at David with what David calls his "Snoopy" look, until David feels him staring and opens his eyes.  Once David says "Hello, Winston," he goes crazy jumping around and giving him kisses.  He is a very special boy.  [Can't measure the love they have for us, can you . . ."]
