Hooch couldn't be doing better.  He had his third Parvovirus shot on December 16th.  He weighed 21 pounds during that visit to the vet.  --- He has more energy and more personality than any dog that I've ever had.  Our bonds just keeps getting stronger and stronger.  I've attached a few photos that I took yesterday.  Have a fantastic day.  Don"    THANK YOU, DON!!!!  So grateful for the beautiful pictures of your Ellie and Hooch.

Now the daughter of Nicole, Austin, Texas
Ringo, at almost 9 weeks:  First day in his new home with his mom, Nicole.  Mom says that things are going really well, that sister, Layla is teaching him proper bathroom etiquette . . . and he is following her example quite well!  Mom also says that Layla 'may' not know what lies ahead, because when Layla jumps at him just a bit to play, Ringo will sit back on his little haunches and bark at her!    That's pretty tough stuff for a little tyke; we may should feel a bit sorry for Layla in a few months! :)  Mom says they already seem to love each other, and both were sleeping in her lap at the end of the day after a walk and a look around.  THANK YOU, Nicole, for letting me know that all is well; I appreciate your thoughtfulness so very much.
Mindy Leigh is so proud of her family; she wants you to meet them!  First is her mom, Melissa, and her brother, Matt . . .
. . . and she has a second mom, Melissa's mom, to love her, too!
Guinness' first pictures in his new home!!  And not only does he have a new home and new parents who love him SO much, but he even got a new coat!  Guiness, you look . . . beautiful!!!  :)
. . . and with mom, two weeks later!  This young man is intensive training, so necessary to his becoming the adult his parents expect him to be.
Other pictures of  this young man as he settles into his permanent home and all the years ahead:
A sleepy Ruby B. at almost 10 weeks; lounging on the couch and watching the Cowboys game with dad.  :)

SANTA'S NEWEST LITTLE HELPER:  ELF MINDY!!!!
Santa will choose this little elf to ride in his sleigh, for SURE!! :)
Pictures of Ringo and his big sister, Layla:
"Think I'd better just lie here very quietly until sister wakes up; she's a WHOLE lot bigger than I am!"
"Hmmm, wonder how I get up there with her?  She couldn't be trying to get away from me now, could she??
"Layla said to sit like this, but . . . I'm turned the wrong way. . . I think!"
Mom came along and helped me up . . . mom said this was her favorite time of the day.  :)
Hooch and Ellie,  December 2008
Note from Mom and Dad, January 2, 2009:  " . . . Ruby is doing great!  She has learned to ring the bell to go outside now , and we have moved her into the laundry room instead of the crate during the day.  She likes the laundry room much more!  There are a few more pics I will follow up with.  Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!  Justin and Katherine"  [Mighty cute little Christmas Elf!!! :) ]
Beautiful, Beautiful Hooch, at 4 months
Brother and Sister, playing:  "So sorry, sweet Ellie:  he's  not a little guy anymore, is he . . . '
BEAUTIFUL MINDY at almost 4 months
Note from mom, January 2009:  " . . . Mindy is over 20 pounds and she is just beautiful.  We love her dearly.  I can't wait for her to go to the park with me or my mom for a jog.  We have to wait for two more parvo shots, then she will be ready.  Also, I purchased the Cesar Millan sessions.  He is from the show the Dog Whisperer and they are wonderful.  You can pass this along to everyone that purchased one of Mindy's brothers or sisters; they teach you how dogs think so you can associate and communicate more with them.  So, anyways, my mom says "Hi," as does Rita and Matt.  Hope all is well.  Love, Melissa and Family."  [I will indeed pass this along, Melissa!  Mr. Millan is wonderful, is he not!  He would not give me high marks in one area, however:  he says a dog wants to be treated as a dog, and I KNOW he is correct!  I have a hard time keeping that in mind because they are more 'people' than 'dog' to me.  I'll keep working on it though!  :)  THANK YOU!!!!!]
"Stick with me, kid; I'll teach you the ropes.  I know Mom REAL well . . . "
Ringo at Christmas 2008, 3 months
Mom and Matt bought Mindy a bundt cake at a doggy bakery!!  Was this your reward for trying on the Easter Bonnet?  :)
Mindy!!!  We can tell what fun you are having trying on your new Easter Bonnet!!!  :)  That hat is  . . . just YOU!

News from Petunia!  (March 6, 2009)

Tracie reports that Petunia is doing well!  Those of you who have asked to see this little girl will be able to do that, soon!   . . . I can hardly wait!!  :)
This was Petunia (nee Mariska) when she was here with us, just before she left to spend her life with her family.    I cannot tell you what a precious little girl she was!!  She ALWAYS wanted to come and snuggle in my lap . . .  so very much like her mom, our Idgy.

News about Bronx, as he grows:  May 28, 2009:  "Shella, How are you?  Well, Bronx is doing better with his itching and we had our trip to the vet today.  You were exactly right, these are just his allergies acting up.  The vet actually commended us for taking the appropriate actions early before it got out of hand.  He said that they've had a lot of dogs in recently with the same skin irritations but some had progressed into weeping hot spots.  He gave us some medicine for Bronx to take orally which should help clear things up.  ---Yes, Bronx weighed in at 60 pounds at the vet's office today, and he is completely fit and in good shape.  It's hard to tell in the photos of him sitting because he is so hunched over, but he really is a little barrel of muscle.  From your description of his dad, I'd say they sound EXACTLY alike in personality!  He is full speed ahead just about every time he is outside.  He makes us laugh because we'll call him to come take a break and he'll come running as fast as he can but doesn't even attempt to put on the breaks and will smash into your legs full speed ahead if you don't move.  He almost knocked me completely over one time.  That's the other thing:  he's tough as a box of nails.  There is not much that seems to bother him.  When he gets his shots at the vet's, he doesn't even flinch or acknowledge that anything has happened.  He'll play with our friends' larger dogs at top speed and won't stop until we make him lay down for a rest.  His energy level is usually pretty good in the house with the occasional sprint around the living room.  Our only real concern with his activeness is around children.  We are not real sure how he would behave around little ones if he wasn't restrained, but we know he absolutely loves kids.  Anytime there are children around, he immediately focuses his attention on them and gets all excited, wagging his tail and pulling on the leash.  We let some of the kids pet him, but we hold his collar and watch him close.  This is probably just the 'puppy' in him.  --- Bronx had his neuter surgery back in March.  Melissa and I dropped him off at the vet's office before work one morning and picked him up when we got off.  We were a nervous wreck, but everything turned out just fine.  Bronx was a little wobbly from the medication the first day and a little sluggish the second but that was it.  He was back to his normal energetic self the third day and we really had to keep an eye on him because he still had the stitches and he would play as if he hadn't just had surgery.  We drag our poor little dog along with us just about everywhere.  That is one very pleasant personality trait of his:  he travels extremely well.  We put him in his crate with the back seats laid flat so he can see us and he's content just to lay there the entire trip or until he has to go potty.  It truly is a blessing when we are driving long distances.  And when we absolutely, positively can't bring him with us, we found the perfect solution.  A friend of ours recommended Camp Bow Wow a while back when we had to leave the state.  We looked into it and conpared it to other places.  The thing that I liked about them is that they let the dogs play together the whole day and only kennel them at night instead of letting them play for a little while and kenneling them the majority of the day like some of the other places.  There were two other things that sold me on them.  One was that they required an interview with every new dog to see if it was non-aggressive and gauge its personality.  Come to find out, they separate the dogs based on size and temperament.  So we brought Bronx in one morning and let him stay all day and picked him up in the evening.  His report card said he passed with flying colors, even though they did call him a 'wild man.' (ha!)  The other thing I like about them is that they have web cams set up in each play area.  So while Melissa and I were in Seattle, we could log on each day and see how Bronx was getting along here in San Antonio.  And let me tell you, he LOVES this place.  --- Anyway, I'll keep you posted on his little allergies.  This is definitely not something you should worry about as a trait passed on in the breeding process.  The receptionist at the vet's office said, "Oh, Bronx, you're in with allergies like every one of our other bulldogs."  :) -- Photos:  most of these are from a while back, but we did include two current photos to show you how much he has grown.  You can even see the difference in just these photos.

1.  The first couple are of our little man in some bluebonnets.  We were driving home from my parents' home and Melissa just had to stop and get a photo when she saw the flowers.  Bronx just thought they were a large fluffy bed.

WHAT HAS MR. GUINNESS BEEN DOING IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS??  HE'S BEEN . . . . GROWING!!  :)
Guinness, at almost six months, with his beautiful, everpatient mom . . .
Note from Dad, March 14, 2009:  " . . . life has definitely become much easier as Guinness gets older.  Good news is that he has not pee'd or pooped in the house in about three months.  (still some problems when he stays in his crate several hours)  . . . he also loves water or Gatorade bottles that are empty.  He won't crush them, but he will gnaw on them and make them pop out of his mouth so he can chase it!  He loves playing fetch and I never thought this breed of dog was so happy to run after a toy for an hour!  . . . he is one big ball of energy, though.  Since we have had him, not once has he decided to lay down and fall asleep!  He will pass out as soon as he gets upstairs to his crate, but when he is out, he is 100% ready to rock ALL THE TIME!  It's like he knows, "I don't sleep here, so why am I gonna lay here; I'm gonna run and bug Abby!" Speaking of Abby, still not much progress on their relationship.  They don't fight as often, but they still get into it when she feels he is trying to embark on her laying territory.  We do a therapy session where we doggie gate the kitchen and put the two of them together and that has actually helped.  At first all they would do is attack each other, but now they sit next to each other without a peep.  Hopefully that can be progressed as well.  On to his health; as far as we and the vet knows, he is one healthy pup!  Growing steady and getting plenty running exercise around the house . . . "  [THANK YOU, JOSH AND JUSTINE!  I saw a female bulldog this week with the very same coloring/markings of Guinness, and I thought of him instantly.  She was an adult, but I am certain he is going to look much like her; she was just gorgeous.  I will write you immediately and answer all your concerns; everyone with a growing puppy has them!! :)  'This' is the hard time, Josh--as you can already tell, it gets so much better!!  MANY happy, happy times ahead.  Tell Abby to hang in there; it will get better for her, too!  She DOES have my sympathy, though!  It was HER home, first!!  :)]
Hooch (at 6 months) continues to grow . . . and, I would say, make life 'interesting' for his sister, Ellie.  Dad says Hooch is a very healthy, happy boy.  :)
PRECIOUS, BEAUTIFUL MINDY  at 6 months
Ruby's First Christmas
Note from Mom and Dad, April 10, 2009:  "Here are some of the latest pictures of Ruby.  She LOVES being outside!  She is right at around 30-32 pounds and I think she has finally stopped growing upwards and is starting to fill in a little bit.  We started obedience school and the trainer has told us that she is 'highly food motivated" and should be extremely easy to teach.  So that is great news!  Some of the pictures are of her up at the office with us.  She usually sits at the front on our couch and watches eeryone walk by during the day.  I hope you guys are doing great!  Let me know how it's going!  Happy Easter!  Justin and Katherine"  [Highly food motivated? :)  Yes, would HAVE to be; for the first two months of her life, she was raised in this household:  we are ALL food motivated around here! :)  And this IS about the time she starts to thicken . . . she's just a gangly teenager right now; give her a few more months and you will hardly recognize her.   SO glad she loves to be outside!!  She CAN be, much of the time; her mom spends about five hours a day out playing with the others and lying in the sun.   Such a hard life . . .  :)  Anxious to hear how she does in school!  Let us know!  :)  P.S.  SHE'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RECEPTIONIST EVER!!!]
Miss Ruby, at almost 7 months
Bronx, at almost six months, with mom and dad
2.  The next set are from our trip to Enchanted Rock.  It was still cool outside so it must have been around early April sometime.  Anyway, we stopped several times on the way to the top even though he didn't act like he needed to.  We brought along plenty of water and he learned how to drink out of a sports bottle.
3.  These last couple are recent pictures of him (8 months).  One is of him sitting in his bed because he's too big to lay in it anymore . . . guess we should look into getting him a new one.  The other is of him lounging on the couch like he owns the place.
Bronx, at 7 months

Mr. Bronx, at 8 months -- What a beautiful little guy you are!!
Note from dad, May 31, 2009:  "Here are some new pictures, Shella!!!  Our little trip to Dallas a week ago!!  I'll send you some updates in words soon; just wanted you to have some pics!  He is not a big fan of car rides, but he has been so great on our trips!!  He loves when we're finally there!"

Note from dad, June 2, 2009:  "I gotta tell ya Shella . . . I
Guinness, at 8 months, on a road trip with mom and dad . . .
Note from Ringo's mom, June 1, 2009:  " . . . Pictures attached are from April and May.  He loves taking his toys out of his box and trying to fit himself into it; he also loves turning my rug upside down when I'm not looking.  So mischievous.  He's pretty quick for a bulldog too--sometimes running around like a Tasmanian devil.  Poor Layla--he beats her up pretty good and tries to use her legs as chew bones.  She's still so patient and they get along wonderfully. -- Hope all is well with you and your family!  Talk to you soon.  Nicole." [At eight months, he's still a puppy--he'll settle down nicely in the next few months.  Right now, he is so happy and feels so good that he can barely contain himself. :)  Bless Layla's heart:  tell her if she can hold on a few more months, he'll sleep SO much more and be an enjoyable companion.  Course, she has to make it until then!! :)  THANK YOU, NICOLE, for everything!:)
Took all the toys out!!  He is happy now!!  :)
LOVE MY DOG!!  I love Abby of course, but Guinness is my buddy.  Sure he can be hyper and not wanna stop playing, but then there's the loving guy, too . . .Everyday ends with the guy and me playing, or him bugging Justine while she reads . . He really loves her.  You have made us both so happy!  I will talk to Justine and see when we can maybe set a time up to meet with them (Shawn and Melissa and Bronx); sure you can give them my e-mail."
[THANKS SO MUCH, JOSH!!  And I've gotta tell YOU:  You don't love your buddy one bit more than he loves YOU . . . and Justine, too!  Bless you for giving that little guy such a loving home.]

Note from Dad, September 23, 2009:  "Hooch thanks you for the wonderful birthday card.  I have to tell you that the first year wasn't hard at all.  In fact, I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Hooch and I have forged an unbelieveably close bond.  He is loving, caring and a very entertaining clown.  He has definitely added to the quality of my life.  -- I have attached some birthday week photos for you.  Warm Regards, Don"  [He's just beautiful, Don!!  I can see the contentment in his eyes.  YOU have made him into what he is . . . and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.]
Ellie is never far from you, is she sweet Hooch . . . and neither is dad.  You are a lucky boy.

Note from Dad, November 4, 2009:  "Hooch and I are doing okay.  As you too well know, it's a day by day thing for awhile.  Please keep me up to date on Phoebe.  I'll keep her in my prayers.  You're right about the cooler weather.  It's nice to be able to spend our days outside again.  Hooch has unbelieveable stamina.  He has as much energy after our 5 mile morning walk as he did at the start.  I don't think that is is possible to wear him out.  Have a memorable day.  Don"  [Thinking about you, Don]
